1994 Taylor Vintage Port

Post by Tom D. »

Very dense, cherry cola color. Interesting minty nose, driven by marvelously complex but subtle and elegant mixed fruits including plum and cherry. Similar palate, where the alcohol came into reasonable balance after 18 hours in the decanter but continued to mingle with the fruit to add a cinnamon red hot note. Moderate tannins build and clip the pleasantly balanced finish. This half bottle is a shade more advanced than I was expecting, particularly to the eye, but the pedigree of a classic Taylor is plain. This probably won't enter my preferred drinking window for at least 25 years, but I'll enjoy checking in on it occasionally in the meantime. (95 pts.)

If ever a Vintage Port needed forty years to be ready to drink ... this fits the bill 100%.
Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com
