Zachy's Hong Kong Auction

Post by John M. »

Has anyone checked this auction out? Lots of ports from 1927 to 1948. Why so much there?

While that is a lot of rare stuff, it really isn't that many bottles. I can envision it being from one collection. Why does one consign Port for sale in Asia? I can't say I know why since I don't think it commands a particularly higher price there.

I have my suspicion, but I'll keep that one to myself.

Without looking at the site and seeing if there's any information on the consigner, perhaps it was a Port loving Brit? It being an ex-colony and all. At least, that would be my non-conspiracy theory idea.
