The only 1980 bottle I have is a GC that I paid $57.5 for. Others like G, D and T seem to be more like $70+

I've been able to find 83 G for under $60, 77 D for $75 and 77 G for $65. All of those supposedly as good or better than any 1980 VP.

Was also able to get quite a few F 85 for $70.

I see Graham, Taylor, or Sandeman 80 equal 77 Dow or Graham. Dow has a lot of bottle variance and Graham can be on the hot side.

1991 Croft VP. What I love about this Port is that it is showing some secondary character already. Most 1994s are still such youngsters w/ very little in the way of development considering 20 years of age. Not the case with this beautiful version from 1991, one of the truly outstanding Croft Ports post 1945.

Opened it yesterday, sitting in decanter. Enjoyed it though the tannins were a bit harsh... hoping that they mellow out w time in decanter.

Had some last night that finally tasted more balanced (ie, enjoyable) after a full day in decanter and 2 back in the bottle. Lets see what the future holds...

I would do at least 7 hours. I decanted and let sit for 4-5 hours, then poured back into the bottle 5+ hours before serving.

The '83 was damaged due to a dried out cork. The Reserve is nice and a good QPR at $14 in WA.

Still a youngster, but beautifully integrated, well structured and the finish went on and on!
