TN: 2011 Guru (Wine & Soul) Douro white

Post by Rune EG »

I am a big fan of the Wine & Soul-products, such as Pintas, Pintas Character and Manoella vv (all Douro reds), and their 10 yrs tawny and vintage ports. However, when it comes to their white wine Guru, I am struggling. Tried it again, this time 2011-vintage, and it is slightly better, but in my mind quality wise far away from the Douro reds and the ports. Possibly it is because there is too much acidity for me.

No decanting. Medium transparent yellow colour. Fresh “green” aroma of minerals, sea air and acid. Full body. Powerful, “green” taste such as green apples, a lot of acid, quite dry. Fading away towards the end. Short to medium aftertaste. 87 pts.

I'm dismayed by your TN. I believe that we have a similar palate for Douro a. I bought a quite a bit of these in the UK and am importing them. I guess I'll have to see what I think when the wines arrives.
