2007 Dow Porto Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto (8/8/2010)
Decanted to remove sediment, but absolutely none was found at this point. Rich, succulent and mouthfilling. Loaded with mashed, spiced plums and floral notes (violets?). The sheer density of fruit completely hides any signs of alcohol. Delicious with Stilton, yet this somehow seemed slightly disappointing on the finish, where I was expecting more vibrancy. This was "popped and poured"; we'll see how this evolves on day 2. (94 pts.)
Slightly more" together" on day 2. Overall, an excellent port, and I'm thrilled to have some in my cellar... but I can't help thinking the wine spectator review was a bit generous.

Marco,
I love this Port as it's one of my favorites from the Symington's in 2007, but I agree the WS score was a bit generous IMO.
Ditto what David scored it. I've not varied my opinion on this since I wrote my article and had it again in May. It is a stellar Dow and I LOVE the Dow house style in general and the 2007 in particular. Yet I just don't get the 100 points either. But everyone's palate is different.
