TN: 2004 LBV Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: 24 hours - Unfiltered LBV from a half bottle, very little sediment. Bottled 2009. Deep red in colour, deep red centre but paling slightly on the rim. Attractive, fruity nose laden with ripe and sweet blackcurrants. Aggressive entry, slightly thin texture and a strongly acidic structure. Some tannins remain, but the dominant feature is the pleasant fruit. The immediate aftertaste is hot, but a lovely raisin and chocolate finish follows. A very pleasant LBV, drinking nicely but one capable of improving over the next 5-10 years. 88 points
