TN: 2003 LBV Port
Decant: ½ hour - Bottled 2008. Pale colour, similar in appearance to the Grahams Six Grapes shown alongside, with pink beading around the glass. An odd nose, some black cherry but lots of alcoholand some unpleasant stink that proved to be bottle variation between the two bottles being poured. Restrained in the mouth, the fruit being held back by the acidity of the wine, which also gives most of the structure to the port, despite the mild tannins. The fruit does come to the fore in the mouth eventually, if you hold it on the tongue for long enough. This is a wine that may benefit from a long decant to allow it to develop all its facets before being drunk. The aftertaste is very impressive, long and grapey. This is a decent port, but not one to hunt out and buy. 82 points
