Decant: 2½ hours - Mid red in colour with a light centre and a rose coloured rim. A lively nose full of mature and spicy fruit. An impression of sweetness on entry, full of dry and dusty raspberries but the acidity is huge and unbalanced and gives structure without integration. There are still tannins in the wine, but these fade quickly with a little air but the wine remains disjointed and not impressive. The aftertaste is long, but starts with a burn before fading back to leave a bitter chocolate flavour that is quite enjoyable. I guessed that this was the Noval 1978. 86 points
