TN: 1989 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: 3 hours - Typical yield from Vesuvio grapes is around ½kg per vine, due to the extreme climate of the Upper Douro. 2,500 cases of this wine were made, but not released as the initial Vesuvio vintage, the 1990 was the first commercialised year. This is light in colour, and with a very transparent centre. Cherry and gammon on the nose, fully ripe and mature but with a faint touch of heat. Soft and sweet in the mouth, with a lovely spiciness to the flavour; rich and mature cherry genoa. Mouthfilling and delicious. Generous aftertaste and long length. Very nice port - perfect drinking today, harmonious and elegant. 90 points
