TN: 2004 Warre LBV Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: 0 hours - Bottled filtered in 2009. Served on BA 2159 between London and St Lucia. Pop 'n' pour serving from a previously sealed bottle.

Deep red, slightly watery appearance and with none of the purple of youth - surprisingly mature looking. Slightly over-ripe raspberries and brambles on the nose. In the mouth this is well balanced on entry; not too sweet, with restrained fruit, gentle acidity and very soft tannins. Shows good development on the palate, with a lovely peppery bite and a nice blueberry core. A little hot on the aftertaste, but opens to a caramel and mild red licorice finish of considerable length. A nice LBV to drink now, but which is unlikely to improve much with additional bottle age. 84 points
