1970 Presidential Vintage Port

Post by Andy Velebil »

Decanted about 9 hours. Presidential is the name Dalva (C. da Silva) uses/sells under in the USA. Showing some bricking, this gained a darker hue with decanting. A very elegant nose of soft anise and strawberry with no noticeable heat. I was amazed that right after decanting this had no heat at all. Just plenty of soft sweet and creamy strawberries, some prominent menthol, and an amazingly consistent body. Although lacking some complexity, this showed better than I had expected and was a real treat. But a bit past it's prime at this point, so if you have some I'd drink up sooner rather than later.
