2008 Taylor Quinta de Terra Feita Vintage Port

Post by Glenn E. »

Tasted at the Taylor lodge in Vila Nova de Gaia on 02-OCT-2010 prior to the start of the 2010 Port Harvest Tour.

Excellent tannins and good acidity. There's a slightly weird tang to the taste, but it isn't unpleasant. Earthier, more minerality than the Vargellas. Outstanding, but not quite as nice as the Vargellas. Probably wins QPR though, as Terra Feita (when it can be found) is usually less expensive than Vargellas.

Score: 94+ points

I haven't got to typing up my notes on this one when we visited. But agree this was a really good VP and I liked it better than the Vargellas. This is one to keep an eye on for 2008 SQVP's.

My memory of the evening said that I liked the Terra Feita better than the Vargellas, but my notes said otherwise. My notes also say "limit reached" right before the 2007 VP, though, so any memories I have after that point are just icing on the cake even if they're wrong. :drunk:

Searching worldwide, the Vargellas looks slightly cheaper than the Terra Feita.

Yeah, my comment in the TN was based on my experience the few times I've seen a Terra Feita in the US. When I've seen it here, it has been about 90% of the cost of the Vargellas. I didn't do a search right before writing the TN, though.
