This week so far, I've opened the 2008 Ramos Pinto Duas Quintas and 2007 Reserva Especial version of the same wine. Both were very good. The 2004 Quinta do Crasto Vinha da Ponte was blow away good but sadly not as great as some others I've had due to not enough time open. It was almost 9 hours in decanter and that was still not enough. It was so big and primary, it would have been even better with lots more air time. I am going to leave these for several more years.
Tonight I plan to open some Niepoorts that I brought to Michigan. I have a 2009 Tiara, and will also open both a 2007 vs. 2008 Vertente with dinner. Afterwards I have a 1988 Colheita and probably one other Port for dessert. Should be a fun evening.

All of those were tasted plus a few others that night and the next, except the Tiara, which I will open soon. Now to plan for New Year's Eve.
I am going to think of the Douro wines to serve and then plan a meal around that.

Re: Recent bottles
Yeah the 2004 Ponte still shows best on day 2, which is amazing and a sign of how well this will age. I was happy to recently get another 6-pack of it since I have a hard time keeping my hands off it.
