40 Year Old Tawny Port by Kopke

Post by Glenn E. »

Kopke 40 Year Old Tawny Port
bottled 2007

Color: Orangy tawny, crystal clear in the glass. Seems a bit light for a 40-yr old.
Nose: Nuts, aromatic alcohol, and tart fruit tending toward apricot.
Palate: Rich, full bodied, luscious. Good citrus. Oak, vanilla, nuts, possibly some toffee, and some caramel.
Finish: Very nice, very long. Echoes the palate. Fades out evenly.

Score: 95 points. Another rock-solid bottle from Kopke. These will occasionally creep up a point or two for me, but 95 or 95+ is fairly typical.

A solid but not great showing by this bottle, a wine that normally wins me over every time. Nonetheless, a fine drink! [friends.gif]
