TN: 2008 Pintas Character Douro Red (Wine & Soul)

Decanted 2.5 hrs (needed!). Dark red with a light rim. Aroma not so pleasant in the beginning, but as we let the wine stay in the glass, the aroma opened up and became more approachable. Aroma consisting of something smoked, tar and liquorice. Very powerful taste, sharp, possibly elegant, but not smooth, a lot of berries. Long finish. Drier and rougher than Pintas Character 2006 and 2007. Have five bottles more and will let them stay for a couple of years to develop, and concentrate on the consumption of 2006 and 2007. 90 pts.
