1983 Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port
served blind
Color: Medium dark garnet, slightly cloudy. A little bit of bricking going on.
Nose: Wood smoke and/or bacon. Some alcohol.
Palate: Smoke, tannins, and a nice richness. A bit harsh. Bandaids?
Finish: Good tannic grip, great length.
Score: 91 points. Needs more time. I guessed either Smith Woodhouse or Gould Campbell. The bacon/smoke is starting to show up a lot in SW Ports for me, but it's just a recent trend so I'm not yet sure I'd call it a house style.
