I'm posting this as a warning more than anything else, but perhaps someone will want it anyway.
Wine Consigners has a case of this Port available for $29/bottle, which looks like a screamin' deal. The catch? It was bottled in 1996.
This is not meant to be a knock on Wine Consigners, because I've used them in the past and have always had a good experience. It's just a reminder that when buying Colheita, ALWAYS check to see when it was bottled! A 1987 bottled in 1996 is a completely different beast than a 1987 bottled in 2002 or 2007 (the two other bottlings of that Port that I know of).

The thing that kills me about that place is that while the bottles look cheap, getting them shipped from that place looks to be a huge pain. Once you tack on all the shipping costs, those bottles ain't so cheap anymore. I called on a different Kopke colheita that's no longer there, and I called on the 2005 Barros that was ridiculously cheap, but found the added shipping costs to make it not worthwhile. I'm in Chicago, of course, so it might be different if you're in the same time zone.

If you have your own UPS or Fed Ex account, they'll ship using your account which makes it FAR cheaper than what they charge for shipping. And even though they are close to my house I can't pick up in person and have to ship. That coupled with their difficult to deal with ordering and paying system is a MAJOR turn off and why I no longer buy from them.

Their price to ship to Seattle is competitive with everyone else's aside from the charge for the shipping container, but since their bottle prices are typically much less I don't mind paying for the container. They're really quite the bargain for me, so I browse around there fairly regularly. You do have to pay attention and question the details of each purchase, though, because listings like this one can come as a big surprise if you don't ask ahead of time. I highly doubt that they're trying to be sneaky... I just think they don't know the difference. They're always happy to send me pictures or answer questions when I ask.

I too have been put off by their high shipping costs. I believe that the last bottle that I was considering would have run over $30.00 to ship, and I live just a few miles away from them. I've also run into some non-disclosure issues with Wine Consigners, but that's a whole different discussion...
