Dorene came home with this bargain wine and poured it for me without even looking at the label. At the end of the meal, she looked at the bottle and told me what it was. I had no idea it was Portuguese but admittedly liked it. I took a Bordeaux stem and filled it up while typing my notes the other night. Later on she told me she paid $7. My note will be in the upcoming newsletter but suffice it to say, I'd drink it again willingly.
n/v Herdade do Esporão, Alandra, Alentjo red wine. I believe I scored it 85 points, but I thought it offered great value for money and would drink this with a burger or meat dish and be quite happy at that. You can't eat steak every night and can't drink it either.

But think of all the fiber you'll get from the box
I'm not opposed to certain wines being in a box. At least the Mylar packaging will keep it fresh for many days as it won't let air in as the bag collapses when the wine is removed. I would love to see something like a Six Grapes or a Noval Black in a box, such as a 1-liter or 1.5 liter in size. That way I can keep it in the fridge and have a small glass regularly and not worry about it losing freshness. I'll probably be put on the firing line for those comments

I'd love to see it as well. Would make sense for commercial settings and my fridge
I'm not sure if I would buy a box of reserve Port, but I would consider it for the reasons listed. I have multiple beers on draft all the time and love that I can pour 6, 12, or 16 oz. if I want, and the rest will still stay fresh on the CO2. Hops will fade with time in some beers, but a keg of stout can go a year if necessary (not usually necessary).
I can't say that I've had that particular wine, but I've had some nice wines from Herdade do Esporão. They have vineyards in the Douro as well. If it comes in a box (or cask as we call them here) I'm wary of it though. I've never had a drinkable red from a cask.
