TN: 2009 Quinta do Vale Dona Maria Douro red

Decanted 2 hrs. Dark red colour with a light rim. A lot of berries on the nose, less oak than previous vintages, something smoked (bacon?) and actually some rubber. Powerful, quite elegant, a lot of fruit in the taste, full body, very pleasant tannins, long aftertaste. The best Vale D. Maria Douro red so far (not counting other varieties from same vine yard). 94 pts.
