Decant: 2 hours - Filtered, bottled in 1973. Pale brown appearance, slightly cloudy; 20% opaque. Odd plastic nose, with some over-ripe limes showing through. Neutral entry, very bland. Lots of work brings out some brown sugar. Soft acidity, full of orange and lime. Despite being bland for most of the palate, the finish is tasty with vanilla and creme caramel.
The nose improved with time in the glass and softened over an hour or two to become dominated by kumquat. Softeer in the mouth, too, with little fruit but plenty of brown sugar. Strong acidity and the Taylor burn on the aftertaste. The finish is short, but interestingly comes back for a second round. Drinking this is of academic interest rather than base pleasure. 81 points
