TN: 2003 Casa Ferreirinha Reserva Especial Douro red

Post by Rune EG »

This is the top level of the Casa Ferreirinha brand belonging to Sogrape. After having had several Quinta da Leda (medium to high level) and Vinha Grande (basic level) I actually think the latter two are better, and especially in view of the price. Vinha Grande is nice value-for-money.

Decanted 4.5 hrs. Medium red colour with a light rim. Deep big Douro aroma with a nice integration of berries, oak and spices. Quite powerful, but still also smooth. Taste with fruit, pepper, sharp tannins towards the end. Full body. Long aftertaste. 91 pts.
