TN: 2009 Quinta do Crasto Superior Douro red

Post by Rune EG »

I have not been too keen on the previous vintages of the wine, but 2009 is at a much higher level.
Decanted 4 hrs. Dark red with a touch of purple. Fresh/light aroma of dark berries with a bit chocolate. Medium body. A lot of nice fruity texture in this Douro red with pleasant tannins. Medium length aftertaste. Nice value-for-money. 88 pts.

Rune I agree, this vintage (only their second commercial release) was when they finally got it all sorted out. It's a beauty of a wine and considering the low price here in the states is a no-brainer to buy. The perfect wine to drink while waiting for their Reserva to gain a little age.

Hi Andy!
We have had this 2009 Superior several times since Christmas, both from regular bottles and magnums.
When we have visitors that are not ready for the more "demanding" red wines, but still want to move up from the basics, then this 2009 Crasto Superior has proven to be perfect.
