Port tong supplier

Post by Charles Ferrin »

Does anyone know of a good port tong supplier? I would like to carry them in my wine store in South Florida (and get a pair for myself). There are dedicated port followers down here, especially due to the Latin influence, but no retailers that carry port tongs. Further, I have no idea how to find a reliable producer. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I was looking at a few places to have them made, but lost momentum on that effort. You can try contacting a few of the lodges in Porto and get a box of them sent.

It's not easy to find good port tongs, especially if you are in the US. From what I've learned, many of the best port tongs are made by blacksmiths locally, and the resulting products are exclusive to a particular producer or retailer. Still, I'm slowly building up steam, and I do have a few leads both for vendors and blacksmiths. You never know until you try. I will post whatever success (or failure) that I have.
