1987 Taylors – Quinta de Vargellas Vintage Port
My thanks to my close friend Roy ‘Portmaster’ Hersh for introducing me to this Port. Every single one of his Port recommendations have brought me nothing but happiness and pleasure. Decanted for 4 hours, then poured back into the bottle after a good rinse. Deep red, the nose is herby, rich red Christmas fruit and a hint of alcohol. The palate is velvet smooth, it tastes so inviting from the very first sip. Layer after deep Christmas cake fruit layer just unfurls over my tongue. I was planning to age my remaining my bottles for a decade or two, but that is less likely t happen after this showing. Drink it now with hedonistic abandon, or try to hang onto another 15 years until it hits the magic 40 years old for good vintage Port. My bottles are unlikely to make 40 years...
