1983 Fonseca Vintage Port

Post by John Danza »

  • 1983 Fonseca Porto Vintage - Portugal, Douro, Porto (1/12/2013)
Double decanted. On initial opening, light brick red with moderate alcohol heat. Quite sweet with a little dryness on the finish. Seven hours later, there wasn't much change. A little less hot than earlier. Fully mature, much more than it should be for this vintage and quality of producer. No need to keep any longer. (86 pts.)

Nice note. My experiences have somewhat mirrored yours. A Port that is fully mature, spirity, and ready to drink. Though I did have the best bottle of this I've had about a year ago. Not as hot and spirity as previous, but still fully mature and ready to drink. One of the weaker Fonseca's from a classic declaration.
