1977 Fonseca Vintage Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: 5½ hours - Sourced from El Vino Stocks. Signs of old seepage around the cork and sello under the lead capsule.

Dark red and attractive, in the stages of early maturity; 90% opaque. Rich, sweet plums on the nose with just a hint of licorice root. Restrained fruit on impact, sweet and mouthfilling but well balanced with a core of acidity and plenty of dark chocolate. A very big palate presence and which delivers increasing levels of complexity. Fabulous aftertaste, sweet bruised plums and plenty of garden flowers, before a huge finish which shows the pepperiness and vigour of this delicious port. A remarkably good showing of this fantastic port. Superb. 95 points
