1974 Taylor Crusted Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: 2 hours - Bottled in 1974. Modest rose colour, russet-brown rim; 20% opaque. Burnt sugar and Turkish Delight on the nose. Sharp entry, lots af apple acidity hits the tongue and makes you wince! Slowly some apple sweetness comes through the mask of acidity, lots of dates and light brown sugar. Light bodied; a burst of heat on the aftertaste that only fades slowly, but does leave a long and tangy concentrated seville orange marmalade finish. A modest port that would have been better 5-10 years ago; today this is faded and rather too acidic. 83 points
