1986 Warre LBV Port

Post by Bradley Bogdan »

Good solid cork, base neck fill, decanted 3 hours and consume over 2. The nose was full of bright canned cherry, ever so slightly medicinal, nutty and very slightly truffle-y. The palate was warm, with cinnamon, fresh cherry, chestnut and a hint of caramel. The tannins were integrated but still giving a noticeable and pleasant amount of grip, while the heat way slightly prominent for my tastes. The wine was opened and consumed on 2/5/13. The wine seemed particularly good qpr, for its under $40 price at auction. Yummy. 90+ pts. Would have scored it higher but it didn't had a great alcohol balance.

It is great when you can find, or cellar a LBV this long and still get so much pleasure from it. They become so interesting with age, when they remain in balance. :winepour:

Nice TN!
