Douro wines tasted on the trip ... your favorite?
Although we only tasted about 50 Douro wines on this trip (possibly a few more or a few less) ... I'd love to know what you felt was the best you tasted? If you can not narrow it down to one ... how about your top 3?
Thanks!
Thanks!

David and I had the same wines in our top 3, although a slightly different order for me.
Top wine:
2004 Quinta do Crasto "Vinha da Ponte" - 97 points
Then:
2001 Quinta do Crasto "Vinha Maria Teresa" - 96 points
2003 Quinta do Crasto "Vinha da Ponte" - 95 points
I agree, Miguel makes some amazing dry reds...and ports too!

Actually, Miguel just sells the Crasto wines.
Miguel's brother Tomás Roquette, Susana Esteban and Dominic Morris are the winemakers at Crasto. We met all three of them while there.

Douro Reds
Can't argue with those top three... my top scoring Douro Reds as well...
2001 Quinta do Crasto "Vinha Maria Teresa" - 96 points
2004 Quinta do Crasto "Vinha da Ponte" - 94 points
2003 Quinta do Crasto "Vinha da Ponte" - 93 points
For some reason I didn't give this one a score, but from my notes it left a great impression on me for a Douro Red:
2003 Ramos Pintos Duas Quintas Red Reserva

Good choices, but I'd love to hear from the rest of the gang that was there. Come on guys, I am not asking for tasting notes, just a name. 8)

I'm glad to know that Maria Teresa was a favorite. I was lucky to find one 2003 I guess(paid 90 euros). I did also see a Vinha Ponte 98 for 60 euros but did not buy it since it was staring at the sun and it was selling for 90 euros last year...
I was not part of the trip, but in Portugal around the same time, for me, my top 3 was from Niepoort, I just crave his wines. Batuta 2005 from barrel is really something to look for, Charme 2004 is a perfect one(got 4 already) and Redoma Branco reserva 2005 is stunning!
Pintas 2004 and Guru 2004 from Wine & Soul are also very close.
