Decanted 9 hours ahead of service, which I think it mandatory for the wine to show its best. At this point, there was only a slight bit of heat from the alcohol. This let the fruit flavors come shining through, with plums and dark cherries dominating. The wine is medium sweet, not a sugar bomb, which gives it some complexity. The color is a healthy medium red. I'm not sure that it's fully mature yet at this point, but I think the best bottles have at least 15 years of good drinking left in them. (93 pts.)
