2011 Quinta do Vesuvio Vintage Port

Post by David Spriggs »

Color is Opaque. Nose - nice and fruity. Blackberries. Palate - this is special! Great concentration. Very suave mouth feel. Quite expansive. Mabe a bit soft structurally compared with other 2011 VPs I've had. Very good persistence and excellent acidity. I really like this Vesuvio. There have been many excellent Vesuvios, but this is the first one since the 1994 that is as good as that one. Really quite impressive. There is just enough tannic structure to keep things interesting. I suspect that this wine will not close down in a serious way throughout it's lifetime - just like the 1994. Delicious! 95 points.
