2006 Quinta do Vesuvio vintage port

Post by Rune EG »

Decanted 7 hrs. Deep dark red with a touch of purple. Magnificent aroma of young fruit and flowers. Full body. A lot of pleasant fruit in the taste, mixed with hints of oak and rough tannins. A bit “thinner” in the taste towards the end. Maybe a bit too much acid. Long aftertaste full of berries. 2006 was a difficult year for vintage ports. This 2006 Vesuvio VP is still good, but far away from other Vesuvio VPs in the same decade. 88 pts.

I have a feeling that this was affected by Andy's feet treading on these grapes.

And Derek's, Stewart's, David's, Alex's, Roy's and lots of other people you may know. For many it was their first time in the Douro. For all of us, it was our first time treading! :NotWorthy:
