Opened for the Feb 2014 Virtual Tasting. Coincidentally, I opened one of these for the Feb 2010 Virtual Tasting as well.
Ramos Pinto Quinta do Bom Retiro 20-yr old Tawny Port
Color: Tawny orange, very clear, fades through yellow with the tiniest hint of green near the rim. Bright ruby highlights.
Nose: Some light vanilla and a bit of spirit. There's a hint of some rich, earthy grain. Also a little bit of sour cherry mixed with dried apricot.
Palate: Full and round on entry, smooth. Somewhat tart dried fruits and heavily caramelized sugar. Some brown sugar as well. Great acidity.
Finish: Initially tart with a bit of alcohol bite, then fades to pleasant dried fruits and some sweet spices. A hint of brown sugar as it tails off. Good length.
Score: 93 points. This bottle is a little sharper than the last one that I remember, but it's still excellent to almost outstanding.

Because I'm on my phone and it's tough to look up, is this a better or poorer showing than the 2010 example?

Very similar, but I scored it slightly better 93 vs 92. Could have really been a toss-up, though.

Forgot to mention, this one was bottled in 2011. Last one was bottled in 2008.

I have really enjoyed the RP tawnies I have had over the last year or so. Only sad that they tend to be on the pricier side.

Good to see that they maintain consistent quality across their bottlings.
