Produced by Quinta de S. José, a quinta located between Pinhao and Tua. A lot of nice ports produced in that area. Winemaker is the relatively young Joao Brito E Cunha. They have a very nice web site http://www.quintasjose.com, showing that the quinta has Douro wines (one white and four reds) and offer Agro Tourism. This seems to be their very first port wine.
S.J 2011 - Quinta de S. José (02.05.14)
Decanted 6 hrs. Deep dark purple colour. Quite powerful aroma of very young berries (raw juice). Full body. A big young port, quite smooth at the start, then the usual dry tannins for the young vintage ports. A lot of the raw fruit juice. Long and strong aftertaste, may be a bit too strong. Watch out for dark blue teeth after drinking! 50 % Touriga Nacional, 30 % Touriga Franca and 20 % Sousao. A bit too much acid which I guess is due to the high portion of Sousao. A promising vintage port from a new producer. 89 pts.
