Quinta do Crasto at Sainsbury in the UK

Post by Derek T. »

Sainsbury have 2 dry red wines and a 1996 VP in their "Taste the Difference" range that are actually Q d Crasto wines with Sainsbury labels. At £19.99 the VP looks good value 8)

If I recall correctly, I believe that we saw these being labelled at the Quinta in early October.

Didn't you nearly trip up over a pallet of the table wines?

Sure did, but we had only been there 10 minutes and I hadn't had any port yet  - I must have still been a bit dizzy after that taxi ride

Spotted this last week and was surprised - Quinta do Crasto is a Port I only know about through real Portheads. Seeing it at Sansbury is plain weird, but the current offer means that it is only £15 per bottle... and for some reason I didn't get one... I'm flummoxed.
I'm telling you - Port is from Portugal.

I picked up 6 (all they had in store :? ) this morning :D

Incidentally, when we spotted these cases sitting in the warehouse at Q do Crasto I asked whether or not this was bottled specifically for Sainsbury. I was assured that this is exactly the same bottling that sells under Crasto's own label 8)
