1980 Taylor Vintage Port

Post by Al B. »

Decant: Pop 'n' pour - Bought from Davy's of Holborn. Ruby red in colour, 80% opaque. At first subdued on the nose, showing just a touch of mature fruit and slightly harsh acidity. Initially soft and subdued on the palate but then a fierce mid-palate acidity explodes on the tongue bringing more mature fruit and a medium bodied presence. Suprising levels of slightly green tannins remain and give a youthful feel to the wine. There is a burst of alcohol on the aftertaste before a long, dry charcoal finish full of burnt raisins. A good showing of this port. 87 points
