Niepoort Vertente prices

Post by Andy Velebil »

Since the 2003 has recently hit the stores anyone notice the price went way up. The 2001's I bought last year and earlier this year were about $17-18 a bottle. Now the 2003's are going for $24-25 a bottle. A rather large price increase in one year. Maybe that was the Wine Spectator score it was given.

Now, I enjoyed the 2001 a lot and still have a few bottles left, as it was a great QPR wine. Heck I even had a bottle last night.

But is the 2003 really that much better and worth the large price increase?

(disclaimer: just my rant because a favorite QPR is now expensive, but I do seek your opinions)

I suspect that Douro wines are going to be the new hot thing, especially judged by the faboulous Quinta do Crasto wines we experienced when we were there. Expect prices to go up for all douro wines as RP, WA, WS an others (including here) chime in on reports.:(

Better buy now :D
