TN: 2000 Quinta do Silval Reserve

2000 Quinta do Silval Reserve - I have had this on several occasions now and unfortunately this was my last bottle. Initially tight, over the next few hours, this really opened up to become an absolute beauty. Dark scents of blackberry and earth with some licorice notes in the background. The palate was singing and showed its beauty about four hours after the bottle was opened. It was one of over a dozen bottles we opened at a walk around buffet and wine bottle serve-yourself event. Delicious and smooth with plenty of tannins left that need further taming, however the bright boysenberry and prune flavors offered a good deal of pleasure, although I would probably hold any other bottles in your cellar for 5 more years to reach prime time. Good length and only a slight touch of oak, provide seasoning to the suave finish. Drink now - 2016. 92+ points (6/22/07)
