Tasted first time during 2012 FTLOP Harvest Tour when José Maria Calem was the winemaker guest at the DOC-lunch. Brought home one bottle after the Tour and consumed it during the 2014 Christmas days. During the above mentioned lunch I gave it 90 pts. Now it was 89 pts, so the extra 2.5 years in the cellar has not changed the quality in any way. Consist of Touriga Nacional and a mix of over 70 year old vines (latter including Touriga Franca, Tinta Amarela, Barca and Rufete). Produced abt 12,000 bottles.
Decanted 1.5 hrs. Dark red colour. Powerful interesting aroma of oak, berries and minerals, with some floral overtones. Full to medium body. Smooth at start, fruit and a lot of minerals all the way. However slightly one-dimensional at middle part, then it evolves into more complexity and nice tannins. Medium to long aftertaste. 89 pts.

Although this was indeed made by JMC, it is not a "Calem" wine. Just Quinta do Sagrado. I purchased a 3L bottle of this for our Madeirathon group last May and people were loving on it with their steaks at Funchal's fine restaurant: Beef & Wine.

I don't have my notes with me, so I haven't posted on the best Douro of the year thread yet,
but this bottle that Roy mentioned has to be up there.

On the Madeirathon out of that 3L, I thought it was a very nice bottle of wine. It wasn't something that I would put down for a long time and it was in such a great spot and went perfectly with my "black pig". ![Toast [cheers.gif]](./images/smilies/cheers.gif)
