From day 1 of the 1985 horizontal, 24-25 Jan 2015, Holiday Inn Issaquah. All Ports were tasted blind. Unless otherwise noted, Ports were decanted for ~4 hours the morning of the tasting. The ones that I decanted received ~8 hours of decant overnight and were then stoppered for another ~6 hours until the tasting.
1985 Sandeman Vintage Port
Color: Medium garnet
Nose: Some VA, herbal notes, tart and slightly spicy
Palate: Decent tannins and great fruit. Slightly tart. Some chocolate and some cinnamon. Dark fruit berries (not stone fruit).
Score: 91 points. I didn't have a guess for this one, but it was very nice. There's some potential for improvement over the short term, but it's more likely to be an excellent daily drinker for the next 5 years, maybe 10.
