From day 2 of the 1985 horizontal, 24-25 Jan 2015, Holiday Inn Issaquah. All Ports were tasted blind. Unless otherwise noted, Ports were decanted for ~4 hours the morning of the tasting. The ones that I decanted received ~8 hours of decant overnight and were then stoppered for another ~6 hours until the tasting.
1985 Graham Vintage Port
This is one of the bottles that I decanted on Saturday night.
Color: Medium dark purple/red. Not quite opaque, but close.
Nose: Very slightly sour note that adds depth. Rich purple fruit. Some Douglas fir and cranberry.
Palate: Good tannins. Rich purple fruit. Gorgeous. Blue & black berry. Dark black cherry. Very balanced acidity - it doesn't stand out, but it's sufficiently there to balance the fruit and sweetness.
Score: 95 points. Outstanding. I guessed this was the Graham, but was also slightly disappointed because I didn't feel like it was showing at its best. Yes, even at 95 points.
