1966 Fonseca Vintage Port

Post by Glenn E. »

1966 Fonseca VP

Color: Medium purple, garnet edge.

Nose: Rich purple nose, some grape, some aromatic spirit, black currant, blackberry, dark tart cherry, very faint plum. Also some pine resin.

Palate: Smooth entry, moderately sweet. Significant heat. Decent tannins and good acidity. Same fruits as nose plus something minty. Faint chocolate. Faint eucalyptus.

Finish: Medium length, some fruit, some heat. Apple tail.

Score: 93 pts. Could have been 95 without the heat, and probably normally would be for me. F66 is one of the great ones.
