NV Quinta do Vale Meao Olazabal Finest Reserve ruby port

Post by Rune EG »

Just recently arrived in Denmark. No information on the quinta web page.

Decanted 3 hrs. No sediments. Neutral cork with no signs. Deep dark red colour. Aroma of fresh young berries and some floral undertones. Full body. Taste is also full of young berries in a heavy way, a bit “raw” in style due to young berries and thereby also quite tough tannins towards the end. After three hours decanting it became more mellow and actually a bit elegant. Well structured ruby port. Not so bad. 87 pts.

I tasted this port this weekend. The "raw" style is something i also noticed. I think its because of the heat from the Douro Superior close to Spain.
Decent ruby port, but not realy my style.
