We tested their 2009- and the 2011 vintage ports two evenings after each other.
The 2011 is the vintage port that came out as the surprise amongst the top 10 of Roy Hersh thorough tasting of the entire 2011 vintage portfolio. Difficult to find, but have purchased some directly from the quinta and from an importer in Denmark.
6 hrs decanting. Consumed over a period of 2.5 hrs and it stayed constant in quality throughout that period.
Deep dark red colour. Fantastic pleasant complex aroma of berries, some oak, flowers and minerals. No spirit. Full body. The taste is powerful and elegant, just the way I want it! Although having a super smooth fruit with touch of liquorice and minerals, it is still rich and have plenty of contents which is hanging on for a long time. Tannins are definitely there, but in a nice and acceptable way. Very nice balance fruit and acidity. An extremely well-structured vintage port. One point up from last year. 97 pts.
