2009 Dow LBV Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

375 ml bottle with T-stopper. I couldn't find a bottling year on the labels. Initial aromas were fruit forward and jammy, with grape and grape stem, along with some menthol. Then there was some vegetable plant stem, cinnamon, and something approaching esteva. As I was trying to figure this out, I also thought it seemed to have something of a melon rind character, more watermelon than cantaloupe. First flavors hit like a margarita--lime, lemon, and more triple sec than orange. Grape too, with plenty of tang. Tannins are there and persist in and past the finish. Still persisting is the margarita with some grenadine/cassis syrup flavoring. There are so many things going on in this that I had to write a note. But while it is fun for that, it isn't all that great, 88 points.
