1992 Warre Quinta da Cavadinha Vintage Port

Post by Eric Menchen »

Quite fragrant with aromas of candies, flowers, and herbs. There is some spirit as well in the aroma. The flavor is quite juicy, tangy, and nice. The finish is shorter than some of the others (tasted after 1970, 1977, 1980, and 1985 Warre VP), and the tannins aren’t quite there. This is very enjoyable, but not up to the level of the previously tasted wines. 90 points.

I'll just use this note for my comments. You seem to like the younger vintages of Cavadinha. I do too. I find that this SQVP typically matures very fast on it's own. Generally speaking, about the 20 year mark and it's not getting any better, at least from the many I've had over the years. That's not a bad thing at all, actually I really like that because I have something more mature to drink while Warre's VP and such keep maturing. Anyways, just something I noticed in your notes on these.

I concur. But I'm a bit worried about my 1978. It may already be past its prime.
