Purchased 3 bottles of 2006 Niepoort Charme back in August 2009. Consumed 1st btl April 2010, then 2nd btl October 2013 and now
5 years later the 3rd and last. The last was the best. The level of acidity has been reduced compared to 5 years ago.
Decanted 2.5 hrs which appeared to work well. Plastic capsule inside the metal capsule. Cork in perfect condition. Medium red colour with a tiny touch of brown. Subdued aroma of oak, soil and some berries. Medium body. Powerful at start and quite elegant. Well-balanced acidity/sweetness, and the acidity is being experienced as well integrated. Oak and soil are still there, while the berries are fading away. Tiny bit tobacco towards the end. If you have this vintage of Charme in the cellar, I would suggest to enjoy and drink up.
