TN: 2005 Niepoort Robustus Douro red
5th of 6 bottles purchased autumn 2009. Now being 13 years old. Decanted 5 hrs. Dark red with light rim. Deep aroma of berries, oak and minerals in nice harmony. Full to medium body. Powerful, elegant, a “big” wine. Slightly different in style compared to many other Douro-wines. It is well-structured and has a good acidity/sweetness-balance. However, a bit dry (minerals) towards the end. Having followed this 2005 Robustus since it was 4 years old, it seems for me that it is in a mature situation. Medium length aftertaste. One more point than previous bottles. 93 pts.
