NV Churchill's Terra Quente Old White Port

Post by nicos neocleous »

TN: Old White Port on St Catherine’s Day – 25 Nov 2007

Tanners Wines – Terra Quente – Old White Port – Churchill Graham Lda – (Oporto, Portugal)
I visited my sister Katerina on her name day and she very kindly opened this for me from her well stocked cellar. The 37.5cl bottle had a plain black and white label, 20% alcohol. No decanting, and served at a cool temperature. Bright amber, with a sophisticated nose of caramel, butterscotch and beeswax. Every sip I took gave me pleasure. The refined and reassuring old feeling of soft warmth, brown sugar, waves of delicious enjoyment and a good length. It was such a pleasure to slowly enjoy this dignified old treasure. 92/100. The best news is that she has five more bottles left, so I hope to be visiting her again very soon...

Thanks for the note Nicos. I wish more producers would make a quality Old White Port (or Colheita). The good ones are rare (and even rarer in the States), yet I've enjoyed everyone I've ever had.
