TN: 2017 Quinta do Vallado "Quinta do Orgal" Superior Douro Red

Post by David Spriggs »

This wine is Organic! Very dark color. It's a blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Souzao. I believe that the dark color is the Souzao. Smokey, earthy nose. A classic and inviting Douro nose. Big wine! Mouth filling. Loaded with cherries and black fruits. Very long finish. This is excellent! Really good structure. It's still young so there are some prominent tannins, but I think they are in balance. The big surprise comes in the finish. There is a long delay and then a wave of acidity hits you. It just works perfectly because it refreshes the palate. I could see that the more air the wine got made it softer. I wouldn't put this down for a long time - maybe a year or two. But I can drink this now. Really cleanly made and delicious! 92 points!

Had one recently. As you mention a very good wine at a reasonable price too.
